Daily Devotional Rev. Johnnie Flakes,III - February 19, 2010

Good morning,

Our devotion for today comes from John 6:11 "And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fish as much as they would."

Wherever you are today, meditate on this; think of something in your life, at this very moment, that seems impossible.  Have you run out of money? Are you facing a severe illness?  Is there a broken relationship in need of restoration?  Are there business challenges you are facing?  Are there school challenges that seem impossible?

What are you currently doing about this situation?  Most likely you have already considered all of the ways in which you could remedy the problem on your own.  Though you may feel powerless, it is at this point of frustration and exhaustion that God can work a miracle in your life.

Surely the apostles felt powerless as the crowd of Jesus' followers continued to grow at the Sea of Galilee. They knew that no one could possibly have enough food to feed a crowd of 5,000 or more hungry people.

Yet, in this seemingly impossible situation, Jesus met the needs of His people.  He transformed a single meal into an overflowing feast for the masses.

Jesus satisfied the hunger of thousands with two fish and five barley loaves.  Do you not think that He can also perform a miracle in your life?  When you feel that your problems are unconquerable, trust in God who can use your weakness to demonstrate His perfect strength.  Draw hope from His desire to prove His faithfulness in your life.  God's grace is sufficient for you, and His power is perfected in your weakness. (2 Cor. 12:9)

Have a blessed trusting day!

Your brother in Christ,
J. H. Flakes III
